Nevada’s First Filipino Town Opens in Las Vegas This October

Las Vegas will inaugurate Nevada’s first Filipino Town on October 9, 2025, perfectly timed for Filipino American History Month. Here’s what to expect, from food to culture.

A Historic First for Nevada

On October 9, 2025, Las Vegas will officially open Nevada’s first Filipino Town, a cultural district set along South Maryland Parkway between Flamingo Road and Desert Inn Road. The corridor spans roughly 1.2 miles and sits a short drive from the Strip and the airport. Launching in October adds significance because it coincides with Filipino American History Month, amplifying visibility and community pride.

A Dream Decades in the Making

The idea of a Filipino cultural hub traces back to the 1970s and grew as the community expanded through the 1990s. The current designation came together through the long-time leadership of Rozita Villanueva Lee, who worked with Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom and nearly 50 organizations to secure a unanimous County Commission vote in April 2025. Today, Southern Nevada is home to nearly 250,000 Filipino Americans, the state’s largest and fastest-growing AAPI group, making this recognition both timely and historic.

What You’ll Find in Filipino Town

  • 25+ Filipino-owned businesses across food, retail, and services.
  • Seafood City Supermarket as a community anchor for groceries and essentials.
  • A planned Filipino cultural museum inside the Boulevard Mall with exhibits and artifacts.
  • Mural art and public artwork celebrating Filipino heritage and values.
  • Spaces for festivals, food fairs, performances, and weekly events that welcome locals and visitors.

“It’s a place for us to congregate, share our story and passion, and most importantly, share it with the great American public.” — Johann Sayson, President of PHLV Radio

Why This Recognition Matters

Filipino Town acknowledges decades of cultural, social, and economic contributions by the Filipino community in Southern Nevada. Beyond celebration, the district will serve as an educational hub where younger generations and visitors can learn traditions, hear stories, and experience the culture firsthand. Leaders emphasize keeping the district authentic and community-centered as attention and tourism grow.

Looking Ahead

With its grand opening on October 9, Filipino Town is set to become both a cultural landmark and a visitor destination. For visitors, it’s an open invitation to experience the flavors, stories, and spirit of Filipino culture in the heart of Las Vegas.
