Council of Filipino Organizations of Arizona Hosts Appreciation Event

On October 15th, the Council of Filipino Organization of Arizona (CFO) hosted a cultural appreciation event at the Casino Arizona Showroom in Scottsdale. From 2 to 7 PM, the event celebrated Filipino American History Month and recognized those who contributed to the success of the 2023 Philippine Independence Day Celebration.

The event, open to the public, showcased cultural performances, a fashion show of traditional Filipino attire, and a book signing with Filipino American author Mylene Richardson. Chairperson Jennifer Aquino reflected on the event’s purpose, stating, “We’re here to express our gratitude for the community’s support, which was crucial for the success of this year’s PIDC event.”

Tokens of appreciation were distributed to the first 100 guests, underscoring the tradition of giving within the Filipino community. Attendees shared their appreciation for the showcase of Filipino culture through dance and music, highlighting the event as a meaningful celebration of their heritage.

Charmel Dela Cruz, who will be taking the lead for the next year, shared her enthusiasm about the future, noting the importance of community involvement in these events. “The commitment of our community members is what makes these events so meaningful and successful,” she said.

The appreciation event was marked as a success, with attendees praising the variety of talent on display and expressing gratitude to the organizers and sponsors. Special thanks were given to Casino Arizona for hosting the event, which was essential in bringing the community together for this occasion.
